Quick Assist Guide
Using Microsoft Quick Assist
For Screen Sharing and Guided Support
Microsoft Quick Assist is a built-in tool in Windows 10 and Windows 11 that allows our Member Services team to securely connect to your computer. With your permission, we can see your screen and walk you through processes step-by-step.
Install or Enable Quick Assist
On most Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers, Quick Assist comes pre-installed. If you don’t see it when searching:
- Press the Windows key, type Microsoft Store, and open it.
- In the Store, search for Microsoft Quick Assist.
- Click Get or Install.
- Once installed, you can launch Quick Assist from your Start menu.
⚠️ Note: If you are unable to find or install Quick Assist, your organization may have restricted access. In that case, please contact your IT department for assistance in getting the application installed or allowed.
Step 1: Open Quick Assist
- On your keyboard, press the Windows key.
- Type Quick Assist.
- Click the Quick Assist app in the search results.
Step 2: Allow Connection
Once Quick Assist opens, you’ll see an option that says: Get assistance → Enter a code from the assistant.
- Your Blue Stakes Member Services representative will give you a 6-digit security code.
- Enter the code in the box and click Submit.

Step 3: Grant Permission
- You’ll be asked whether you want to allow screen sharing.
- Click the “I Understand” tick
- Click Allow to share your screen.
- The representative will then be able to see your screen and guide you.
- You will remain in full control the representative cannot access your files without your permission.

Step 4: Optional – Grant Control
- If we need to interact directly with your screen (click buttons, type text, etc.), they will request control.
- You’ll see a pop-up asking:
Do you want to allow this person to share control of your device?
- Click Allow only if you are comfortable. You can revoke control at any time.
Step 5: End the Session
- When the assistance is complete, click Leave at the top of your screen.
- Close the Quick Assist window.

Security Notes
- Only accept Quick Assist codes from authorized Blue Stakes of Utah 811 Member Services staff.
- Each session requires a new one-time code and cannot be reused.
- You can end the session at any time.
